Squeaky Wheel Gets the Chocolate Sorbet

I feel like this is turning into a product placement blog!

Anyway, today's post is sponsored by about Weis dark chocolate sorbet. Which is delicious on waffles. MrMoustache keeps writing about waffles in his blog, so I had to go and make some, and after you make waffles, you need ice-cream to eat it with.

What I love about this sorbet is that it's incredibly smooth and actually feels like ice-cream.

Before I bought an ice-cream machine, I was so happy when I saw this dairy-free chocolate and coconut sorbet.

When you are allergic to dairy, your pre-made "ice-cream" options are generally pretty limited - usually vanilla and dark chocolate, or if you go to an actual ice-cream store, you may also get mango / berry / lemon sorbet. Beggars can't be choosers, and we really should be happy to have any ice-cream at all! It's usually pretty icy, or has a weird texture to it. This is mostly what prompted me to buy my own ice-cream machine.

I bought this as soon as I saw it, and pretty much opened it once I got home. I love chocolate and I love coconut, but the flavour of the ice-cream was disappointing. The chocolate was delicious, but the coconut had a weird texture to it. It was really hard, and had that gross coconut water flavour as an aftertaste. I ended up eating around the coconut bits and just picking out the chocolate. MrFodder noticed me doing this and asked why I didn't write in and suggest they make an only chocolate flavour.

I've never really been one to complain to a company about their products. The only time I have was when Sanitarium stopped making their mango coconut frozen dessert (I don't think they can call it ice-cream since it's technically not ice-cream). It never came back. I wasn't really hopeful when when I made my suggestion, but I thought I might as well do it anyway. They responded to me on the 14th of December, 2016.

Good Morning Anna,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write to us. We always welcome feedback from customers. I will be sure to pass on your comments to our Sales and Marketing Team.
Kind regards,

On the 28th of September, I was pretty stoked to see the Dark Chocolate sorbet in the supermarket freezer. Not only that, it seems that there are people who prefer the coconut part, and it looks like they are selling that on its own as well.

I feel a bit bad, as I now have my own ice-cream machine, so my ice-cream buying days are mostly over, but since this month's ice-cream flavour is something that doesn't really interest me, I decided to buy a tub of the dark chocolate sorbet. And it is good. So smooth and creamy. It does have a slight coconutty taste (which is a bonus to me, but may not be everyone's cup of tea), but it is a pretty rich tasting dark chocolate.

It's not just the ice-cream that makes me feel happy, I'm also pretty chuffed that they listened to my feedback (though obviously it wasn't just me giving this feedback, I was probably one of many). I definitely don't advocate people using feedback as a chance to abuse a product or anything like that, but it probably doesn't hurt to make a suggestion. If people have an issue with something, and never raise it, then the company will never know about it, and can't fix it. It won't always have a happy ending, like my coconut mango "ice-cream", but maybe it could.

Ooooh, but please stop me if I turn into a serial complainer. Helpful feedback only!
